María Alcantud Díaz is a faculty member at the University of Valencia's Faculty of Teacher Training, where she has been teaching in the Department of Language and Literature Teaching (English area) since 2012. She currently serves as Vice-Dean for Internationalization and Development Cooperation, a position she has held since 2021.
Her research focuses on innovative approaches to foreign language education, particularly through two main streams: 1) Integrating Sustainable Development Goals as cross-cutting elements in educational curricula using novel methodologies, and 2) Teaching foreign languages through literature. These research directions are implemented through practical projects addressing multilingualism, interculturality, reading, and writing promotion.
Dr. Alcantud Díaz founded and directed the UV Chair of Cooperation and Sustainable Development (2020-2022) and established the TALIS Project (www.proyectotallis.com), which comprises both a research group and non-profit association. She has coordinated multiple significant initiatives including three University of Valencia Development Cooperation projects, one Ministry of Social Welfare project in Mali, and three UNESCO Chair projects implemented across Peru, the Philippines, and Valencia.
She currently serves as researcher for the project 'H5P Interactive Content and SDGs in the Teaching of Foreign Languages, Social Sciences and in the Training of Future Teachers,' demonstrating her commitment to practical educational innovation that addresses global sustainability challenges through pedagogical advancement.
