Maryann E. Gallagher serves as Senior Lecturer in the Department of International Affairs at the University of Georgia's School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA), Director of the Richard B. Russell Security Leadership Program at the Benson-Bertsch Center for International Trade and Security, and affiliate faculty member of UGA's Institute for Women's Studies.
She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Emory University and a B.A. from Drew University, joining UGA in 2014 after serving as assistant professor at DePauw University.
Her research centers on American foreign policy, gender dynamics in international relations, and pedagogical innovation, reflected in courses including American Foreign Policy, Decision Making in International Relations, Women & World Politics, and War & Gender, with emphasis on active learning methodologies.
Her teaching excellence has been recognized through:

Dr. Gallagher actively mentors students through the Security Leadership Program's research semester and organizes SPIA's annual Undergraduate Research Colloquium, while contributing to university committees including the Award for Excellence in Teaching selection panel and Active Learning Advisory Committee.
Her leadership in the Security Leadership Program and Undergraduate Research Colloquium cultivates student development in international security policy through structured research experiences and professional networking opportunities.
