Professor Maryam Omari is the Executive Dean of the School of Business and Law at Edith Cowan University (ECU), holding over 20 years of academic leadership experience. She has led significant structural and curricular reforms, modernizing programs like the MBA, Bachelor of Business, and HRM. Her academic background includes a PhD, Masters in Business (HRM), and multiple other credentials. Prior to academia, she spent 17 years in public sector HR roles, specializing in organizational development and leadership.
Her research focuses on workplace bullying, inclusive leadership, gender equity in academia, and public sector management. She has published extensively on topics like female academic career progression, bullying in legal professions, and volunteer program effectiveness. Her work integrates cross-cultural perspectives, having lived and worked in the Middle East, UK, and USA.
Prof. Omari serves on boards including The Cat Haven WA and ANZAM, and has judged Telstra Business Awards. She previously chaired ANZAM's International Management Stream. Her industry roles involved designing national HR projects and capability-building initiatives. Professional memberships include AHRI and WA representative roles.
Her educational background spans multiple disciplines, with a strong emphasis on HRM and management. Beyond ECU, she has taught MBA and HR programs, blending academic rigor with industry insights. Current initiatives include leveraging diversity frameworks and addressing post-pandemic workforce challenges.
