Mary Ward is a Professor in the Department of English at Temple University Rome, with over 30 years of teaching and textbook writing experience at universities and community colleges in the U.S. and Italy. She has taught English composition, English as a Foreign Language, intensive academic English skills, and technical writing since 1991.

Her research interests focus on sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, and pedagogy, informed by her academic training. Her teaching practice emphasizes inclusive approaches, particularly highlighted by her completion of Columbia University's online course on Inclusive Teaching during the pandemic. Mary has also explored the impact of textbook design and layout on learning, advocating for the use of authentic sources in language education.
Mary Ward has authored three major textbook projects, including What I Believe: Listening and Speaking about What Really Matters (2008) and English for the Fashion Industry (2012). She has taught at institutions such as Columbia University's American Language Program, University of California-Berkeley's College Writing Program, Luiss University, and The American University of Rome, in addition to Temple University Rome.
