Mary Tollefson

Mary Tollefson is an Associate Professor of Piano at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she has taught since 1994. She holds a DMA from The University of Texas at Austin and specializes in piano pedagogy and performance. Her teaching portfolio includes applied piano lessons, keyboard competency courses, piano pedagogy, and music appreciation.

Research interests focus on piano pedagogy techniques, performance practice, and music curriculum development. She maintains active performance engagements including solo and chamber recitals nationally.

Professional recognition includes the WMTA Local Association Member of the Year award (2009, 2014) and National Certification of Teachers of Music (NCTM) accreditation. She serves as President-Elect of the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association.
