Mary Stieber is a Professor of Classics and Art History at The Cooper Union. She teaches core humanities courses and electives including Greek Mythology, Plato's Republic, Greek Tragedy, and The Age of Augustus. Her research examines interrelationships between Greek art and literature, with current work focused on Plato's engagement with visual arts.
She holds a Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology from Princeton University and has published books on Attic korai and Euripides. Her forthcoming work Paragone: The Rivalry Among the Arts in Classical Antiquity explores artistic competition in ancient cultures.
