Mary Savin, a Massachusetts native with a Ph.D. in soil ecology from the University of Rhode Island, assumes the role of Horticulture Department Head at the University of Arkansas on April 1, 2024. A distinguished faculty member since 2002, she has taught microbial ecology and courses in crop, soil, and environmental sciences while securing over $4.5 million in grants and publishing 80+ peer-reviewed works.
