Dr. Timberley Roane is Associate Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Colorado Denver, where she serves as Director of the ESIL (Environmental Stewardship of Indigenous Lands) Certificate program.
Her research program investigates:
- Microbial responses to environmental contaminants
- Bioremediation mechanisms for metal-impacted soils
- Microbial community dynamics in contaminated environments
- Integration of Indigenous knowledge in environmental stewardship
Her publications demonstrate applied environmental microbiology research with strong emphasis on bioremediation solutions and community engagement. Recent work expands into educational frameworks for integrating Indigenous perspectives into STEM curricula.
She leads initiatives bridging microbiology and computational biology within culturally responsive educational frameworks, developing certificate programs and workshops for environmental stewardship of Indigenous lands since 2018.
