Mary Sarah Bilder is the Founders Professor of Law at Boston College Law School. Her work focuses on early U.S. constitutional history, including Native Nations’ roles, women’s influence, and the framing generation. She authored acclaimed books like Madison’s Hand (Bancroft Prize winner) and Female Genius, exploring Elizabeth Harriot’s constitutional contributions. Bilder has served as a legal history consultant for films like Amistad and has been featured on the History Channel and in Annenberg Classroom videos. She holds degrees from University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.A.), Harvard (J.D., A.M., Ph.D.).
