Mary O'Keeffe-Mulhern

Mary O'Keeffe-Mulhern is a Lecturer in the Department of Marketing, Tourism & Sport at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) and serves as Principal Investigator at the Centre for Research in Social Professions (CRiSP). Her expertise focuses on heritage tourism, community resilience, and social value creation through cultural assets. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Management Science from Trinity College Dublin and an MSc (First-class Honours) in Strategy & Competition from University College Cork.

Her research explores the intersection of heritage tourism and community development, emphasizing sustainable practices and multi-stakeholder collaboration. Key projects include the Town Centre First initiative in Killala, Co. Mayo, and analyses of social value derived from cultural collections like the Jackie Clarke Collection. She actively contributes to academic conferences and policy discussions on tourism's societal impacts.

Dr. O’Keeffe-Mulhern is affiliated with the Sustainable Tourism Observatory (STO) and engages with regional initiatives such as the North Mayo Summer School. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education and sustainable communities.
