Mary Neubauer is a President's Professor in Sculpture at Arizona State University (ASU), leading the Art Foundry within the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. She holds affiliations with the School of Art and ASU's Water Institute. Her work bridges art and science, focusing on sculpture, digital media, and public installations.
Education: M.F.A. in Sculpture from Indiana University-Bloomington (1981) and B.F.A. in Sculpture from Colorado State University (1973).
Research interests include data visualization, robotic stone carving (e.g., Digital Stone Project in Tuscany), and interactive public art. Notable projects involve collaborations with Todd Ingalls, creating light/sound-responsive installations. She has exhibited internationally, with recent shows in Italy, France, the U.S., and China.
Awards include the Fulbright Fellowship (Cambridge, UK) and Ford Fellowship. She has held residencies at the American Academy in Rome, Arctic Circle, and Serde Iron Residency in Latvia, among others.
