Mary Medina

Dr. Mary Medina serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy within the College of Health, Human Services and Nursing at California State University, Dominguez Hills. She has been a full-time instructor for the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program since 2008, bringing extensive clinical expertise to academic training.

Dr. Medina's research spans neurorehabilitation and perinatal neuroscience, with scholarly output focusing on spinal cord connections to the cervix during pregnancy and neurological mechanisms of motor movement. Her work bridges anatomical science with clinical rehabilitation practice through publications in reproductive biology journals and neuroscience conference presentations.

With 18 years of clinical experience at Kaiser Permanente Hospital specializing in stroke and spinal cord injury rehabilitation, she directs student training in evidence-based interventions for neurological conditions. Her advanced professional education workshops cover critical areas including Cognitive Rehabilitation, Wheelchair Seating, and Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy.

Current scholarly activities center on mentoring MSOT students through the scholarship of application, translating her research on motor control and neuroplasticity into innovative teaching methodologies for occupational therapy practice.
