Dr. Mary Lambert is an Associate Professor (part-time) at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (VUSN) and serves as the Inaugural Director of the Office of Community Health in Chattanooga, TN. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Vanderbilt, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Emory University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. Her career spans extensive military, government, and academic roles, including active duty assignments with the CDC and FDA, leadership in public health programs, and White House detail post-9/11.
Her research focuses on Health Policy, Regulatory Law, and Healthcare Economics, complemented by expertise in Population Health and Epidemiology. She has presented extensively on addressing health disparities, including a 2022 keynote at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting. Dr. Lambert’s honors include the American Academy of Nursing Fellowship and multiple commendations for crisis response and service excellence. She balances academic engagement with community health initiatives, volunteer work at VA clinics, and advisory roles in nursing organizations.
Key affiliations include the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, and National Black Nurses Association. Her current work emphasizes rebuilding health infrastructure in underserved communities, drawing from her global experience in Rwanda and domestic leadership in Chattanooga.
