Mary Johnston Letellier is an Artist Faculty in Voice at the University of Southern Maine, affiliated with the Osher School of Music within the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. She holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance (New England Conservatory), and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Opera Performance from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

Research & Performance Interests
Letellier specializes in dramatic coloratura soprano roles, bridging classical opera and musical theater. She focuses on vocal pedagogy, performance techniques, and interdisciplinary arts education. Her work emphasizes inclusive teaching methods and community engagement through initiatives like The Complete Voice workshop.

Advising & Leadership
As Co-Founder of The Complete Voice and Founder of MJL Voice Studio, she mentors aspiring professionals and amateurs. She also serves as President of the Maine chapter of NATS and Co-Manager of Opera on Tap: Maine. Her leadership extends to roles in the Portland Rossini Club and the Society of Pi Kappa Lambda.
Labs & Collaborations
Active in performance and education, Letellier collaborates with Lyric Music Theater, Opera Maine, and Port City Blue. She co-founded Opera on Tap: Maine and maintains a private vocal studio, emphasizing vocal technique, stagecraft, and community outreach.
