Mary Jo Kietzman

Mary Jo Kietzman is an Associate Professor of English Literature at the University of Michigan-Flint, affiliated with the Center for Middle Eastern & North African Studies (CMENAS). Her research spans English Renaissance literature and travel writing focused on the Middle East. She has authored two books and contributed articles on figures like Lady Mary Wortley Montagu and Orhan Pamuk, with her work on Pamuk’s *Snow* translated into French and featured in *Cahier Pamuk*. Dr. Kietzman teaches an undergraduate course, 'English Travel Writers to the Middle East: Cross-Cultural Perspectives,' introducing students to Islamic and Muslim cultural studies. She has also lived and taught in Turkey and Kazakhstan, where she collaborated with students to adapt *Romeo and Juliet* for a Kazakhstani context, documented in *College Literature*.
