Mary Jane Weiss, Ph.D., BCBA-D, LABA, serves as Dean of the Institute for Applied Behavioral Science at Endicott College. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University (1990), a Master of Science in Psychology (1987) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (1984) from Marquette University. Her research focuses on applied behavior analysis (ABA) best practices, autism intervention, ethical decision-making, and interdisciplinary collaboration. She directs programs in ABA and the Ph.D. program in ABA, emphasizing the philosophical and scientific foundations of the field.
Key research interests include skill acquisition methods, reduction of challenging behaviors in autism, social skills training, parent-professional partnerships, and fostering cultural humility among behavior analysts. She teaches courses such as Behaviorism and the Philosophy of Science and Professional and Ethical Issues in ABA.
Dr. Weiss is a leader in professional organizations, including the Board of Advisors for the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Sciences and the Autism Special Interest Group of the Association for Behavior Analysis International. Her publications explore collaboration between ABA and speech-language pathology, multidisciplinary team dynamics, and the scientist-practitioner model in behavior analysis.
She actively promotes ethical practice and interprofessional collaboration, advocating for effective staff training and cross-disciplinary teamwork in behavioral healthcare.
