Mary Gowin

Mary Gowin, PhD, MPH is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center's College of Medicine, where she directs the Primary Care Health Policy Division. She holds an adjunct appointment in Health Promotion Sciences at the Hudson College of Public Health. With over 15 years of public health experience, she mentors students and faculty in program planning, implementation, evaluation, and qualitative research.

Research Focus: Dr. Gowin specializes in health promotion, social determinants of health, health policy, and qualitative methodologies, with particular expertise in tobacco control, gender health disparities, and public health interventions.

Publications: Her recent work explores diverse public health challenges including pandemic impacts on vaccination, vaping behaviors among youth, transgender health advocacy, and environmental health policies, demonstrating consistent focus on vulnerable populations and policy-relevant research.
