Mary Francoli is Associate Professor of Communication and Media Studies at Carleton University's School of Journalism and Communication. She simultaneously serves as Associate Dean and Director of the Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs. Her academic credentials include a B.A. Hons. from Acadia University and M.A. and Ph.D. from Western University. Prior to Carleton, she was Leverhulme Visiting Fellow in New Media and Internet Politics at Royal Holloway, University of London.
Dr. Francoli's research centers on digital media's relationship with political governance, specifically examining:

- Governance in the digital era
- Access to information policies
- Political communication in digital environments
She has established herself as a leading Canadian expert in open government, authoring two major reports for the Open Government Partnership assessing Canada's progress.
