Dr. Mary Elizabeth Ellzey is a Professor of English at Shepherd University, serving as Director of the Rude Mechanicals Medieval and Renaissance Players and Co-coordinator of the Gender and Women’s Studies Program. She has been with the university since 1989, following a Ph.D. from The Catholic University of America and a stint as an assistant editor for *The Middle English Dictionary* at the University of Michigan.
Her research focuses on Old/Middle English literature, medieval/Renaissance drama, and gender studies. Notable publications include works on Beowulf, Chaucer, Genesis A, and medieval romance. She has also directed numerous theatrical productions, including Shakespearean plays (*King Lear*, *Macbeth*), medieval dramas (*Everyman*), and works by Hrothsvita.
