Mary Churchill is Professor Emerita in the Education Department at University of Wisconsin-Superior, specializing in teacher preparation and technology integration. With 25 years of experience in Duluth Public Schools as teacher, administrator, and technology integrationist, she joined UW-Superior in 2011 where she served as Educator Preparation Program Coordinator and Department Chair before transitioning to full-time teaching in 2022.
Education includes a PhD in Education/Instructional Design for Online Learning from Capella University (2010), MS in Education/Educational Administration from University of Wisconsin-Superior (1993), and BA in English Education from University of Minnesota Duluth (1985).
Research examines instructional design for online learning environments, particularly for at-risk high school populations, and technology integration in teacher education programs. Her scholarship emphasizes self-directed learning frameworks and accessibility in digital pedagogy.
She has developed curriculum for both on-campus and online courses, focusing on learner-centered approaches that foster critical thinking and lifelong learning skills. Award recognition includes the 2014 Teaching/Online Teaching Excellence Award and institutional team awards.
