Mary-Anne McCarthy serves as a Senior Lecturer in Geography Education at the University of Chester within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, overseeing Associate Teachers in the Secondary Geography PGCE program and supporting School Based Teacher Educator Mentors through school visits across the region.
Her research critically examines eco-anxiety in educational contexts and develops practical methods to support learners, directly informed by her 20 years of classroom experience teaching Key Stages 3-5 Geography and Humanities. As an active member of the Mentoring and Coaching in Education research group, she investigates mentoring methodologies to enhance teacher development and educational leadership practices.
Dr. McCarthy's professional recognition includes prestigious fellowships that affirm her contributions to higher education pedagogy.
