Mary Ann Vargas

Mary Ann Vargas is a doctoral researcher affiliated with the Translation Acts strand at King's College London. Born in Lima, Peru, and based in London, she combines her background in Peruvian dramatic material from the civil war era with her MA in Translation Studies from King's to explore the lived experiences of the Latin American community in South London over the past three decades.

Her research integrates textual, kinetic, and sound archives, intersecting with the Travelling Concepts and Digital Mediations strands. She is an active member of the Out of the Wings Collective at King's, which focuses on translating and promoting Spanish-American theater.
