State University of New York College at Plattsburghمعرفی
Dr. Mary Alldred is an Associate Professor of Environmental Science at the Center for Earth and Environmental Science, SUNY Plattsburgh. She specializes in the influence of organisms and ecological communities on aquatic ecosystem processes, particularly denitrification in wetlands. Her research focuses on wetland management, invasive species removal, and ecosystem service restoration. She holds a B.S. from the University of Notre Dame, a Ph.D. from Stony Brook University, and a postdoc from Baruch College CUNY. She advises graduate and undergraduate students in biogeochemistry, wetland ecology, and science communication.
Education: Professional Wetland Scientist (2021), Postdoc in Natural Sciences (2015–2017, Baruch College), Ph.D. in Ecology & Evolution (2015, Stony Brook), B.S. in Biology (2008, Notre Dame).
Research Interests: Nitrogen cycling, wetland ecology, urban ecosystems, coastal management, ecological restoration, and data visualization. Her work bridges field observations, experimental approaches, and collaborative interdisciplinary projects.
Lab & Outreach: The Alldred Lab investigates wetland biogeochemistry and restoration, with projects like the LaPierre Lane Riverway educational displays and K-12 road-salt contamination lessons. She emphasizes community engagement and science communication.
Grants & Funding: Active in securing grants for wetland restoration studies and student research. Collaborates with agencies like the USDA and local governments on applied ecological research.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Alldred Lab of Aquatic Biogeochemistry, fostering undergraduate and graduate research in environmental science. Collaborates with regional partners on coastal resilience and urban wetland projects.
