Martina Haase is a Researcher at the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) within the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). She focuses on sustainability assessment of energy technologies, particularly in the domains of biomass utilization, multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA), and life cycle assessment (LCA). Her work integrates socio-economic, environmental, and techno-economic frameworks to support energy transition strategies.
Dr. Haase holds a PhD in Applied Environmental Sciences (2011, KIT) and a Diploma in Applied Environmental Sciences (University of Trier, 2006). She coordinates the Helmholtz working group on MCDA for sustainability assessment and co-leads projects like RISEnergy and RESUR, emphasizing resilient energy systems and raw material supply chains.
Her research spans energy storage technologies, sustainable bioeconomy, and socio-technical energy futures. Recent publications highlight MCDA tools for battery sustainability and biomass potential analysis. She contributed to the reFuels project and the Sylvanus initiative on urban forest resilience.
