Martina Deuchler is a Professorial Research Associate at SOAS University of London's School of History, Religions and Philosophies. Her research employs critical and decolonial approaches to study religious networks, monastic lineages, and patronage systems in historical contexts, with a focus on Jaina traditions and East Asian societies.
She holds a BA from Leiden University and a PhD from Harvard University. Current projects include 'Jaina-Prosopography,' which maps monastic networks and their socio-political roles across history.
Her work contributes to global South historiography through interdisciplinary methodologies linking religious studies, network analysis, and institutional history.
