Dr Martina Deny is a Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London's Department of Modern Languages and Cultures within the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film. She serves as German Language Studies Coordinator and Year Abroad Coordinator, alongside roles as SSLC Representative for the German Department and Academic Coordinator of the Online Postgraduate Journal eTransfers. Her academic background includes a PhD in English Literature (2008) from the Universität zu Köln, with prior studies at Bayerische Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg and the University of Cincinnati.
Her research focuses on postmodern urban narratives, identity construction in contemporary literature, and cultural studies. She teaches courses such as 'Germany Today,' 'Migration in Contemporary European Literature and Film,' and multiple German language modules at various proficiency levels. Her 2009 monograph examines spatial orientation and identity in postmodern London novels, while her 2012 editorial work explores security aesthetics across media.
Dr Deny's administrative roles include coordinating student exchange programs and overseeing academic journals. She has held teaching positions in German, English, and comparative literature, reflecting her interdisciplinary expertise in language studies and cultural analysis.
