Martina Broner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Dartmouth College. Her research examines environmental cinema and media in 21st century Latin America, engaging Indigenous thought and feminist frameworks to analyze cinematic representations of human-nature entanglements in the Amazon rainforest.
Broner's award-winning scholarship analyzes how new cinematic formats emerge from ecological relationships in the Amazon. Her current book project, 'Forest Formats: Media and Environment in the Amazon,' investigates these themes. She co-founded the Amazonia Section of the Latin American Studies Association and teaches courses on ecological representation, crisis narratives, and gender in media.
