- Third degree: Private Law I (2009), Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Law
Professor Winkler's research focuses on the intersection of international law and financial regulation, with particular expertise in international treaties, financial intermediation, competition law, and cross-border contract enforcement. His work bridges theoretical legal frameworks with practical applications in European and international business contexts. He has published extensively on topics including bond security agents, financial market supervision, and the legal regulation of commercial leases from competition law perspectives.
His scholarly output shows consistent engagement with evolving regulatory frameworks, particularly in European financial markets, with recent work examining the Slovak banking sector, consumer credit regulations, and corporate nationality issues. The publications demonstrate methodological diversity, combining doctrinal legal analysis with comparative and empirical approaches.
Professor Winkler has led two major KEGA research projects: 'Basics of Law in English' (2019-2020) which produced an English-language textbook for international students, and 'Law in Marketing' (2022-2023) which developed legal perspectives on marketing management and communication. These projects reflect his commitment to interdisciplinary legal education that serves business students.
As an active member of the Slovak Society of International Law (2009-present), founding member of the Slovak ILA branch (2017-present), and member of CIETAC's board of arbitrators (2017-present), he maintains strong international professional connections. His research stays at the University of Maine School of Law in 2001 and 2004 further demonstrate his international scholarly engagement.
