Prof. Martin Wilmking holds the Chair of Landscape Ecology at the University of Greifswald's Botany and Landscape Ecology department. His research focuses on ecosystem dynamics, landscape development, forest ecology, and carbon dynamics in boreal peatlands. He leads the Landscape Ecology and Ecosystem Dynamics working group, contributing to interdisciplinary studies in environmental science.
Research interests include tree line ecophysiology, climate change impacts on ecosystems, and peatland carbon sequestration. His work combines field studies with modeling approaches to understand ecological responses to environmental changes.
