Martin Weiss is an Associate Professor of Strategy at Vlerick Business School and serves as Partner and Director of the Full-Time MBA program. He is also co-head of the Strategy in Action Platform and a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a strategy consultant at Roland Berger and McKinsey. Weiss holds a Doctorate and Habilitation in Business Administration from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany (2009-2017), where he was an Assistant Professor. His research focuses on corporate strategy, adaptive strategies, diversification, and crisis management. He has advised global companies like Hyundai, Fiat, Volkswagen, and RWE through his consulting and coaching roles. Additionally, he serves as visiting faculty at European business schools. His teaching spans MBA, Master’s, and corporate programs, emphasizing practical learning.
Key research interests include strategic decision-making in uncertain environments, the interplay between growth and profitability, and the role of diversification in mitigating risk. His work has been published in leading academic journals and books. He has redesigned the Vlerick Full-Time MBA to enhance its practical relevance, integrating real-world business challenges into the curriculum.
Recent publications explore topics such as leveraging people in adaptive strategies, boundary conditions for growth, and risk implications of diversification. His contributions to strategy under uncertainty highlight frameworks for turning threats into opportunities. Weiss’s advisory work bridges academic insights with corporate practice, emphasizing the application of strategy in dynamic markets.
