Martin Tröndle is a Professor holding the WÜRTH Chair of Cultural Production at Zeppelin University since its establishment in 2015, situated within the Department of Cultural Studies & Communication Studies. He serves as speaker of the interdisciplinary research cluster 'Arts Production and Cultural Policy in Transformation' (ACPT) and has co-edited the Journal of Cultural Management and Cultural Policy since 2014.
His research program emphasizes concert studies, museum studies, and audience dynamics—particularly visitor/non-visitor experiences—alongside cultural management, policy frameworks, and artistic knowledge production. The chair integrates empirical analysis of cultural organizations with theoretical inquiry into how exhibition formats and social crises transform artistic reception and educational excellence in higher arts institutions.
Tröndle has secured third-party funding for major projects including:
- 'eMotion – mapping museum experience' (Swiss National Science Foundation)
- 'Experimental Concert Research' (ECR) and 'Digital Concert Experience' (DCE) (Volkswagen Stiftung, Aventis Foundation)
- The ACPT research cluster (Zeppelin University)
- 'FEINART' (Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Programme)
The WÜRTH Chair operates within Zeppelin University's Center for Cultural Production alongside the artsprogram and Laboratory for Implicit and Artistic Knowledge (LIKWI), driving knowledge transfer through research-based teaching and collaborations with the Max-Planck-Institut für empirische Ästhetik, Universität Bern, and University of York.
