Martin Suckling

Martin Suckling is Professor and Subject Head of Music at the University of York. A composer whose works integrate orchestral, chamber, and electroacoustic elements, he has been associate composer for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and collaborates frequently with ensembles like Aurora Orchestra.

His compositions include orchestral portraits (This Departing Landscape), concerti (The White Road flute concerto), and vocal cycles (The Tuning). Recent research explores materiality in sound creation and interdisciplinary collaborations with poets and visual artists. Suckling holds degrees from Cambridge, King's College London, and Yale.
