Martin Strausz

Martin Strausz is a researcher at the Institute of Zoology within the Department of Ecosystem Management, Climate and Biodiversity at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). His work focuses on biodiversity monitoring and conservation ecology, with particular emphasis on meadow orchards and indicator organisms in the Austrian landscape.

His research interests include:

• Biodiversity monitoring of meadow orchards
• Automated localization methods for ecological habitats
• Evaluation of indicator organisms for biodiversity assessment
• Integration of new monitoring approaches with established biodiversity monitoring systems

Strausz's recent publications demonstrate methodological innovation in developing approaches for national localization of meadow orchards and monitoring of indicator organisms to supplement established biodiversity monitoring in Austria. His work combines ecological field research with geospatial analysis techniques.

He is actively involved in the DivMoSt project (Biodiversity monitoring of meadow orchards), which runs from November 2023 to December 2025. This research project involves collaboration between the Institute of Geomatics, the Institute of Wildlife Biology and Game Management, and the Institute of Zoology at BOKU, funded by national companies.
