Research focuses on chemokine biology and their receptors, particularly their roles in inflammation. Key areas include tyrosine sulfation effects on receptor interactions, structural basis of chemokine activation, and development of anti-inflammatory therapeutics. His lab has pioneered work on tick-derived evasins as chemokine inhibitors.
Recent projects include suppression of Treg recruitment in cancer immunotherapy and defining chemotactic signaling networks. Notable awards include the 2021 Platform Access Grant for innovative research.
Leadership roles include Director of Monash's Graduate Program in Biomedical Science (2013-2016). Collaborates widely, including with the Melbourne Biomolecular NMR Network. Active in advancing structural biology and drug design methodologies.
