Martin Stjernman is a Researcher and Principal Investigator at Lund University, affiliated with the Department of Biology and the BECC (Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate) research group. His work focuses on conservation biology, particularly the impacts of agricultural land use on biodiversity. He holds a PhD and conducted postdoctoral research on parasite resistance in birds and Daphnia magna. Currently, he develops predictive models linking land use policies to biodiversity changes using GIS and statistical methods. His research contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to life on land and climate action.
Key projects include evaluating Sweden’s agricultural programs, developing biodiversity indicators, and modeling ecosystem services. He collaborates internationally and has published over 40 works. His expertise spans field biology, experimental design, and interdisciplinary approaches to conservation challenges.
