Dr. Martin Paul Bucknall is a Principal Scientist at the Bioanalytical Mass Spectrometry Facility (BMSF) and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the UNSW School of Optometry and Vision Science. He holds a PhD in Physiology and Pharmacology (2007) from UNSW Medicine and a BSc in Physics (1987) from the University of Manchester.

- Analysis of volatile organic compounds, sex hormones, and antioxidants (e.g., carotenoids, anthocyanins) in biological and environmental samples.
- Interdisciplinary projects involving nitrogen fixation, environmental degradation of solar cells, and ecological signaling in wild dingo populations.
- Key Contributions:
- Established the first neonatal screening program for Inherited Errors of Metabolism in the Middle East using tandem mass spectrometry and the CAMPA algorithm.
- Supervises PhD and Postdoc projects at BMSF, UNSW Sydney.
- Engages in commercial, legal, and forensic analytical work.
