Dr. Martin Murray is a Professor at the University of Michigan, affiliated with the Alfred Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning and the Department of Afroamerican and African Studies (DAAS) in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. His academic work bridges urban studies, historical sociology, and African studies, with a focus on post-apartheid urban management and spatial restructuring in African cities.
Professor Murray’s research spans urban South Africa, post-apartheid transitions, and historical transformations in colonial Indochina. He has contributed extensively to journals like International Sociology and Journal of African History, examining topics such as urban governance, capitalist development, and agrarian struggles.
