Martin Mendoza-Botelho is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Political Science at Eastern Connecticut State University. His research focuses on political economy, institutional processes, and democratization in developing countries, particularly in Latin America. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge and has extensive experience working with international organizations like the United Nations and the Organization of American States. His teaching interests include global political systems, democratization, and state-building.
Dr. Mendoza-Botelho’s research emphasizes institutional changes, democratic processes, and the welfare state in Latin America. His work has been published in journals such as the Bolivian Studies Journal and the Asian Journal of Latin American Studies. He has been interviewed by outlets like World Politics Review and Radio Sputnik. He currently chairs the Bolivia Section of the Latin American Studies Association and formerly served as Editor-in-Chief of the Bolivian Research Review.
