Martin Levine is Vice Provost and Senior Advisor to the Provost at the University of Southern California (USC), a role he has held since May 2012. He serves as a primary liaison to the Academic Senate and the Keck School of Medicine faculty affairs office, while also holding the UPS Foundation Chair in Law and Gerontology. Levine maintains a faculty appointment as Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences, with joint appointments in USC's Schools of Law, Gerontology, and Medicine.
His administrative responsibilities include oversight of the Emeriti Center, the Advisory Committee on Work and Family Life, and disciplinary matters. Levine has been deeply involved in shaping faculty policy and has a long history at USC, having joined the Provost's Office in 1998 and previously serving as Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs.
Before joining USC, he held notable positions including law clerk to Judge J. Skelly Wright of the U.S. Court of Appeals, teaching roles at Columbia and Oxford, and legal appointments in the U.S. Senate Constitutional Rights Subcommittee and the Federal Public Defender Office in Los Angeles. His career demonstrates a unique interdisciplinary focus at the intersection of law, medicine, and social policy.
