Martin Krause

Martin Krause is affiliated with the University of Rostock's Department of Systems Biology and Bioinformatics, part of the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. His research focuses on applying mathematical modeling to optimize stimulus profiles in cell biological experiments targeting pancreatic cancer. He holds a Mathematics degree (2005–2010) from the University of Rostock with a subsidiary in Informatics.

His work involves modeling the activation of intracellular signaling pathways (e.g., STAT1) in pancreatic stellate cells exposed to Interferon-gamma. He developed optimization algorithms combining Particle Swarm Optimization and Pattern Search to generate stimulus profiles maximizing desired biological responses. This approach aims to enhance biomedical research into pancreatic cancer mechanisms.

Collaborations include the Rostock University Medical Center (Prof. Robert Jaster's gastroenterology division) and the FORSYS initiative in systems biology. His research is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) and the University of Rostock.
