معرفی
Dr. Kyoungtae Kim serves as Department Head and Roy D. Blunt Life Science Endowed Professor in the Department of Biology at Missouri State University. His academic roles include leadership in the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS).
Education:
- Post-Doc, 2005, Washington University - St. Louis
- PhD, Cell and Molecular Genetics, 2001, Florida State University
Research Interests: Focus on cellular processes involving endocytic pathways, intracellular trafficking, membrane organization, and nanomaterial impacts. His work explores how quantum dots and other nanomaterials affect actin cytoskeleton dynamics, gene expression, and cancer cell behavior. Research also extends to therapeutic applications of nanotechnology in oncology and thyroid cancer models.
Publications Trends: Recent articles emphasize quantum dots' cytotoxic effects on various cell types, their interactions with biological systems, and advancements in nanomedicine. Studies highlight both basic science (yeast models, proteomic profiling) and translational applications (cancer therapy, diagnostic tools).
- Awards: Over 20 awards, including multiple CNAS Excellence Awards, the Roy Blunt Professorship, and state-level teaching recognition. Notable honors include the 2017 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Education.
Teaching & Service: Teaches courses like BIO 101 and advanced cell biology. Actively mentors students and advises on research projects. Serves on editorial boards for International Journal of Research Studies in Bioscience and others. Recognized for impactful advising and service contributions.
Labs & Facilities: Research conducted in Roy Blunt Hall, focusing on cell biology and nanotechnology. Collaborates on projects involving laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) for contaminant detection and nanomaterial characterization.
