Martin Klammer is a Professor of English at Luther College, where he teaches courses on the American novel, South African literature, and Walt Whitman. His research focuses on intersections of race, colonialism, and literature, particularly through his co-authored memoir of Blanche LaGuma, an anti-apartheid activist. He has led J-term programs in South Africa since 1998, emphasizing service learning and post-apartheid societal transformation.

Teaching highlights include African-American Literature, American Novel, and Africana Women’s Writing. He integrates global perspectives through courses like New Hope Summer Camp, South Africa, combining service learning with vocation exploration in a post-apartheid context.
