Martin J. Southam

Martin J. Southam is a Senior Lecturer in Sports and Exercise at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), where he has been teaching since 1999. Based in the School of Sciences, Psychology, Arts and Humanities, Computing, Engineering and Sports, he teaches the social psychological aspects of sport and exercise science from his office in Fleming (Fg47), Canterbury.

His research interests center on the intersection of psychology and sports performance, with particular emphasis on how social dynamics affect athletic achievement. Dr. Southam brings real-world sports examples from stadiums, pitches, and television into the classroom to enhance student learning.
