معرفی
Martin Goldstern is a professor at the Institute of Discrete Mathematics and Geometry, Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), Austria. His academic career includes a doctoral degree (1986) and habilitation (1993) from TU Wien. He has held visiting positions at institutions such as UC Berkeley, Hebrew University, and Freie Universität Berlin, supported by fellowships like the Schrödinger Fellowship from FWF.
Research Interests: Goldstern specializes in mathematical logic, set theory (particularly applications to algebra and the real line), universal algebra, and theoretical computer science. His work bridges foundational mathematics with practical areas like uniform distribution and combinatorics.
Teaching & Leadership: He teaches courses in mathematical logic, set theory, and algebra, and has organized events like the 'Wissenswertes aus der Mathematik' lecture series. He led TU Wien's curriculum committee for Technical Mathematics (2004–2016) and chairs the Set Theory research group. Notably, he contributed to redefining bachelor's and master's programs in the early 2010s.
Awards & Grants: Recipient of the Schrödinger Fellowship (FWF). Supported by ERC grants during stays at Hebrew University (2015, 2018). His work includes co-authoring The Incompleteness Phenomenon, an introductory text on mathematical logic.
Professional Activities: Organized conferences like AAA 58 (1999) and AAA 70 (2005), and contributed to events like the Logic Colloquium 2001 and Gödel Centenary (2006). Active in academic leadership, including the Doctoral Programme 'Mathematical Logic in Computer Science.'
