Martin Gammell is a Lecturer in Animal Behaviour and Aquatic Biology at the Department of Natural Resources & The Environment, Atlantic Technological University. He is also a Principal Investigator at the Marine and Freshwater Research Centre (MFRC). His research focuses on animal contest behavior, animal communication, wildlife management, freshwater species ecology, and Irish butterfly conservation. He contributes to programs like the MSc in Conservation Behaviour and coordinates the MSc in Conservation Behaviour.

Research interests include third-party behavior in deer, effects of environmental disturbances on marine species, and dystrophic lake ecosystems. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to biodiversity and ecosystem conservation.
