Dr. Martin Fullekrug is an Associate Professor at the University of Bath's Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering. He holds a PhD from Universität Göttingen and a Habilitation from Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität Frankfurt am Main, with postdoctoral experience at Stanford University. His research focuses on using radio wave measurements to study atmospheric and near-Earth space electrodynamic properties, collaborating with leading international laboratories, governments, industries, and artists.
Education: Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching (University of Bath), Habilitation (Frankfurt University), PhD (Göttingen University), and postdoctoral training at Stanford. Research interests include Atmospheric Electrodynamics, Solar-Terrestrial Physics, and Climate Science. He actively supervises doctoral students and contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through climate-related research.
Recent projects include studies on lightning-climate interactions in China, ionospheric radio arrays, and risk analysis under lightning conditions. His work has been featured in high-impact journals like Nature and Geophysical Research Letters, addressing topics such as gamma-ray flashes and solar flare impacts.
Grants and collaborations span EU Horizon 2020 projects, UK industry partnerships, and international collaborations. He leads or co-leads initiatives like the Low-Frequency Radio Array on Marion Island and KERAUnIC risk studies.
