Martin Fröhlich

Martin Fröhlich is an Associate Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC) and the Laboratory of Elementary Architecture and Studies of Types (EAST-CO). He holds dual roles in both the IA Department and the SAR-ENS unit, contributing to teaching and research in architectural design and theory.

His research focuses on architectural typology, sustainable design strategies, and material innovation, with particular emphasis on adaptive reuse of infrastructure, cultural heritage preservation, and ecological urban transformation. Key projects include studies on petrol station typologies, modular construction systems, and the socio-ecological role of architecture.

Fröhlich leads design studios for both Bachelor and Master students, emphasizing hands-on exploration of architectural challenges.
