Franz Graf

Franz Graf is an Honorary Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC). His research focuses on the material history of modern architecture and its preservation. He directed the Laboratory of Techniques and Safeguarding of Modern Architecture (TSAM) from 2007 and holds a full professorship at the Accademia di architettura di Mendrisio since 2005. Graf graduated from EPFL and has been a freelance architect in Geneva since 1989. He is president of Docomomo Switzerland and a member of Le Corbusier’s restoration committee. His seminal work, *Histoire matériel du bâti et projet de sauvegarde* (2014), explores architectural preservation methodologies. Graf’s research bridges construction systems, historical analysis, and sustainable conservation practices.

Key affiliations include ENAC-SAR and ENAC-DEC units at EPFL, emphasizing architectural education and heritage studies. His expertise spans modern building technologies, urban conservation, and adaptive reuse projects.
