Martin Dubé is a pianist, vocal coach and Artist-in-Residence (head coach) at the Atelier lyrique of Opéra de Montréal, and has taught at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, the Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music, Conservatoire de Musique de Québec and the Chautauqua Institution. Acclaimed for his collaborative performances with singers such as Vivica Genaux and Hélène Guilmette, he has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Weill Hall, Merkin Hall, the Caramoor and Istanbul festivals, and on CBC and WQXR broadcasts.

Research / artistic focus
Dubé’s artistic activity centres on the interpretation and coaching of art song, French mélodie and operatic repertoire. His discography—An Evening of Arias and Songs (Rossini with Vivica Genaux) and L’heure Rose (19th- & 20th-century French women composers with Hélène Guilmette)—illustrates his commitment to exploring under-represented vocal works and refining collaborative performance practice.

Teaching & mentorship
Since 1997 Dubé has served as associate vocal coach at Juilliard, seasonal faculty at Chautauqua, coach at Curtis and at Opéra de Montréal’s Atelier lyrique for more than two decades, and official accompanist for the Concours musical international de Montréal voice competition. He has accompanied masterclasses led by Elly Ameling, Sherill Milnes, Marilyn Horne, Martin Katz, Marlena Malas, Licia Albanese, Leontyne Price, Benita Valente, Renata Scotto, Dawn Upshaw and others, and is described as one of Quebec’s most sought-after vocal collaborators.
