Martin Dovciak

Martin Dovciak is an Associate Professor of Forest Ecology at SUNY-ESF, serving as Curriculum Coordinator for Environmental Biology and NSF Mid-Career Advancement awardee. He holds a Ph.D. from University of Minnesota and conducts research on climate change impacts on forest ecosystems.

His work examines tree range shifts, biodiversity responses to environmental stressors, and mountain ecotone dynamics. Current projects investigate seed dispersal limitations and assisted migration strategies for climate adaptation.

Dovciak chairs ESA's Vegetation Section and edits for Ecological Applications. He mentors graduate researchers studying forest regeneration thresholds, mycorrhizal networks, and land-use history effects on biodiversity across New York ecosystems.
